چکیده
A phase proper orthogonal decomposition (phase POD) method is demonstrated utilizing averaging for the of spatiotemporal behavior statistically non-stationary turbulent flows in an optimized manner. The proposed POD herein applied to a periodically forced lid-driven cavity flow, implemented using snapshot algorithm. Space-phase modes are extracted describe dynamics chaotic which four central flow patterns identified describing evolution energetic structures as function phase. modal building blocks energy transport equation triadic interaction term can here be interpreted convective bi-modal interactions. Non-local transfer observed result non-stationarity dynamical processes inducing interactions spanning across wide range mode numbers.

متن کاملModelling Velocity Structures In Turbulent Floods Using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition
There are various techniques available to model the turbulence structure. Turbulence of incompressible water flow (without sediment) can be modelled completely using the Navier-Stokes equations. However for even a small part of a river channel, the size of the problem is many orders of magnitude larger than even the world’s largest super-computers can handle. This means that other techniques ar...
متن کاملModels for turbulent plane Couette flow using the proper orthogonal decomposition
We model turbulent plane Couette flow ~PCF! by expanding the velocity field as a sum of optimal modes calculated via the proper orthogonal decomposition from numerical data. Ordinary differential equations are obtained by Galerkin projection of the Navier–Stokes equations onto these modes. For a minimal truncation including only the most energetic modes having no streamwise variation, we show u...
متن کاملModeling of transitional channel flow using balanced proper orthogonal decomposition
We study reduced-order models of three-dimensional perturbations in linearized channel flow using balanced proper orthogonal decomposition BPOD . The models are obtained from three-dimensional simulations in physical space as opposed to the traditional single-wavenumber approach, and are therefore better able to capture the effects of localized disturbances or localized actuators. In order to a...
متن کاملTrust-region Proper Orthogonal Decomposition for Flow Control
The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is a model reduction technique for the simulation of physical processes governed by partial differential equations, e.g. fluid flows. It can also be used to develop reduced order control models. Fundamental is the computation of POD basis functions that represent the influence of the control action on the system in order to get a suitable control model....
